What is Club Discovery?

Club Discovery is a membership programme that rewards loyal customers for purchasing from The Editor’s Markets stores and website.

The programme allows you to earn points, redeem exciting rewards and enjoy special perks and experiences. Signing up to be a member is free!

How do I join Club Discovery?

If you have an existing account with The Editor’s Market as of 1st December 2021, you’ll automatically be entered into Club Discovery.

There are 2 ways to sign up for Club Discovery:

Online:
You can join the programme by creating a free account on https://theeditormarket.com. Click here to register for an account now.

In-store:
Alternatively, you can also request to join Club Discovery when making a purchase at any of our The Editor’s Market and Afterall stores listed here.

You can start collecting points and earning rewards by making purchases both online and in stores. Simply log in to your account before checking out online or share your mobile number with the cashier for in-store purchases.

I signed up as a Club Discovery member in one of the stores. Do I need to sign up online again?

No, you do not need to sign up again. However, you will need to activate your account. An email will be sent to you with instructions on how to set your password. Follow the instructions and log in to your account, you will be able to see your point balance, rewards and order history.

What are the different tier levels and benefits?

There are a total of 3 tier levels, which you will be automatically allocated to depending on your spend with TEM within a 12-month period. 

  • White: No spend required
  • Black: $300 accumulated spend within 12 months
  • Gold: $800 accumulated spend within 12 months

Spends include all purchases online and in-stores (TEM & Afterall), but exclude discounts, shipping and store credit usage

What are accumulated spends? How do I earn them?

Accumulated spends are used for the maintenance and upgrading of your membership and membership tiers.

You earn them from making purchases from any of the 6 TEM & Afterall stores or from https://theeditorsmarket.com. Note that all accumulated spends exclude discounts, shipping and store credit usage.

How long will my accumulated spend last? Will it expire?

Resetting of your accumulated spend happens when you are upgraded to a higher tier or when you have reached the expiry date of your membership tier.

Example: Jane accumulated a total of $325 within 3 months of her membership, and hence is upgraded to Black member. As a Black member requires $300 worth of accumulated spend, the excess of $25 would be counted towards the renewal of her Black member tier, and also towards the upgrading to Gold member tier.

Scenario 1: Within the 12-month period after becoming a Black member, Jane spent another $775. This, combined with the excess of $25, will result in a total of $800 which qualifies her to get upgraded to a Gold member.

Scenario 2: Within the 12-month period after becoming a Black member, Jane spent another $300. This, combined with the excess of $25, will result in a total of $325 which allows her to maintain her Black membership for another year from the expiry date of her Black membership.

Will my accumulated spend get carried forward?

No, your accumulated spend will be reset to $0 on the expiry date of your membership. The only case where your accumulated spend is carried forward is when you have upgraded to a higher level tier, but have excess accumulated spend from the required amount needed for the upgrade.

Will my membership tier expire?

For White members, your membership will never expire but your accumulated spend will expire after the 12-month period.

If you have not made any purchases with TEM prior to 1st December 2021, the 12-month period starts from the date of the first purchase that you make as a Club Discovery member. If you have made purchases with TEM prior to 1st December 2021, the 12-month period starts from1st December 2021.

For Black and Gold members, your membership will last for 12 months from the date of your upgrade.For members starting your journey in Club Discovery as a Black / Gold member, the expiry date of your membership tier is 12 months from 1st December 2021.

How do I maintain my membership tier benefits?

Once you qualify for Black member / Gold member, you will be at that level for a full year from the date you qualified. You will then have 1 year to accumulate $300 and $800 respectively to extend your Black membership and Gold membership for another year.

If you do not accumulate the required spends, you will be downgraded to a lower membership tier depending on your total accumulated spend during the 1 year period. Your accumulated spend will be reset at the end of the 1 year period and will not be brought forward.

Example 1: Joanne is a Black member who accumulated $350 within the 1 year period. Her Black membership tier will be renewed for another year.

Example 2: Sarah is a Black member who accumulated $810 within the 1 year period. She would be automatically upgraded to Gold member on the day that her accumulated spend hits $800. The excess of $10 will count towards the renewal of her membership for the following year.

Example 3: Hazel is a Gold member who accumulated $1,600 within the 1 year period. She will be able to renew her membership for another 1 year from the expiry date of her membership.

Example 4: Abigail is a Gold member who accumulated $400 within the 1 year period. She will be downgraded to Black member on the expiry date of her membership.

Example 5: Melissa is a Gold member who only accumulated $250 within the 1 year period. She will be downgraded to a White member after her Gold member tier expires.

How do I get upgraded to a higher tier?

Simply make any purchases in any of these TEM and Afterall stores or through https://theeditorsmarket.com. Once you have accumulated the required spend for the next tier, you will be automatically upgraded to the next tier, and would also be able to enjoy the benefits that comes with the upgraded tier. 

  • Black: $300 accumulated spend within 12 months
  • Gold: $800 accumulated spend within 12 months

If I accumulate more than the required amount in a single purchase, will the excess amount count towards the accumulation of spend for tier upgrades or tier renewal?

Yes, any excess amount will count toward both tier upgrades and tier renewal.

I have an existing account with TEM previously, will my points and store credits be transferred to the new account?

For members who had an existing account with TEM prior to 1st December 2021, and had made purchases under that programme, your points were automatically converted to $10 store credits when you accumulated $200 spend. These store credits will be ported over to the new programme, and you will be able to view the store credits you have in your account here.

For any remaining points in your account that were not converted to store credits by 1st December 2021, they will be transferred to your account under Club Discovery, and these points will have an expiry date of 30th November 2022, 1 year validity from the launch date of Club Discovery.

I have an existing account with TEM previously, what will my tier in Club Discovery be?

All existing members will be allocated to 1 of the 3 tiers based on their accumulated spend for the past 12 months prior to the launch of Club Discovery (1st December 2021).

  • White members have accumulated spend of less than $300
  • Black members have accumulated spend of at least $300
  • Gold members have accumulated spend of at least $800

Spends include all purchases online and in-stores (TEM & Afterall), but exclude discounts, shipping and store credit usage.

You can log in to your account on our website to access your membership details from the dashboard.

I have an existing account with TEM previously and have spent with TEM in the past 12 months, why do I have $0 accumulated spend?

All tier memberships start from the launch of Club Discovery on 1st December 2021, and hence all existing members will start with $0 accumulated spend. The membership tier that you are allocated to will be valid for 12 months from1st December 2021.

Is there a difference between points and spend accumulated?

Yes, there is a difference between points and spend accumulated. 

Spend accumulated counts towards the maintenance and upgrading of tiers and tier benefits. These are earned only through purchases in any of the 6 TEM & Afterall Stores or on https://theeditorsmarket.com

Note that spend accumulated excludes discounts, usage of store credits and shipping. 

Points can be earned from a variety of actions that you take (beyond just making a purchase), and are used to redeem rewards from the Rewards Shop. Here are some of the actions you can take to earn points:

  • Made a purchase
  • Complete your profile
  • Subscribe to mailing list
  • Birthday month purchase
  • Upgrade to a higher tier
  • Purchase 3 - 5 items
  • Purchase at least 6 items

Expiry of accumulated spend happens when you are upgraded or you have reached the expiry date of your membership tier. 

On the other hand, expiry of points happens throughout the year. Points earned will last for 365 days from the date of earning the points. You may access your points history here.

How can I earn points? When will my points expire?

You can earn points to use for the redemption of rewards from the Rewards Shop from a variety of actions.Do note that this is not a fixed list and the list will get updated from time to time:

  • Made a purchase
  • Complete your profile
  • Subscribe to mailing list
  • Birthday month purchase
  • Upgrade to a higher tier Purchase 3 - 5 items
  • Purchase at least 6 items
  • Shops at Taka store during the opening festival 

Some actions only allow you to earn points once, whereas others are repeatable actions that you can continue to use to earn points. For more details, please refer to the full list of active actions that you can complete to earn points.

Points expire throughout the year. Points earned will last for 365 days from the date of earning the points unless otherwise stated. You may access your points history here.

Are there purchases that are ineligible to earn accumulated spends and points?

There are none that are excluded from earning accumulated spends and points currently. The Editor’s Market may from time to time designate certain product items to be ineligible to earn accumulated spends and points.

How long does it take for the accumulated spends to be recorded into my account?

Each time you make a purchase with your account, the spend earned will be recorded into your account within 24 hours of the purchase. You may log into your account through the members’ portal to track your accumulated spends.

How long does it take for the points earned to be recorded into my account?

Each time you complete an action that qualifies you for earning points, the points earned will be recorded into your account immediately after you complete the action. You may log into your account through the members’ portal to track your points earned.

Who do I contact if there are any issues with my spend balance or points balance?

Can I transfer the spend or points in my account to someone else?

Points and spend accumulated in each account can only be used by that account holder, and cannot be transferred or merged with another account.

How do I redeem Rewards?

Rewards can be redeemed on the Rewards Shop through our members portal.

Do Rewards expire?

Yes, each reward will have its respective validity period stated. This expiry date is different from the expiry of your accumulated spend and points. You can check the expiry date of your Rewards in “My Rewards” section. Rewards that have been used or expired will be greyed out.

For TEM store credits reward redemption, once you redeem this reward, the reward will automatically be converted into store credits in your account. No action is required on your end, and the reward will move into “Used / Expired” section immediately.

Is there a limit to the number of rewards that I can redeem?

There isn’t a limit to the number of rewards, as long as you have the required amount of points. However, for some rewards (E.g. Redeem a free drink), these are capped at 1x redemption per account. Details of limits on reward redemption can be found in the T&C section of the Reward.

I didn’t use my reward and it expired, why do you have expiration dates on rewards?

Rewards have an expiration date because we want to encourage members to use them and go on this journey of self-discovery through our loyalty programme.

I am unable to use the reward that I have redeemed due to personal reasons, can I request for an extension of the reward validity?

You will have to reach out to the vendor that listed the reward. Details can be found in My Rewards > Click on the reward, and “View Details”

As a Black or Gold member, when will I receive exclusive offers, rewards and access?

You will receive exclusive offers, rewards and access to special launches through email from time to time. When you register an account with us, there will be an option under “Account Details” to opt in to receive such communications from us so you don’t miss out on our latest offers.

I’m not based in Singapore, will I still get to earn points and redeem rewards?

Our new loyalty program is currently catered to customers that are based in Singapore.

For customers based outside of Singapore, you will still get to earn points as long as you complete the actions required.

For redemption of rewards, only TEM Store Credits is open to customers that are based outside of Singapore. We will use your selection for “Ship to” to define which country you are based in.

All other benefits for your tier will still apply. (E.g. Early access to online sales, secret sales)
